OH EIGHT!

Ok, well the East Blvd. Bar and Grill winter short track series is over now. What a painful series! The past few years of this series has seen exponential increases in the level of competition in the single speed category that I participate in. This year we got to get our asses handed to us by a 13 year old kid who will no doubt have a very promising U23 career if he doesn’t quit riding bikes in a few years when in high school he discovers girls and weed. We were also creamed by a guy (muscle) named Eric who wore lycra pants made to look like acid washed denim. This guy also looked to have been pushing a gear ratio of 44 x 16 in the woods where mere mortals were having a hard time with their standard 32 x 16 gears. His bike had more chain retention devices than a kawsasaki. Pictures below are credited to my lovely girlfriend Rachel, and the second one to “the boy” Drew Dillen

So whats next? I just thought about that while I was in the shower. There are definitely a few more race lines I’d like to toe up to this year… lets take a looksey.

There is the 6 hour grind on the greenway this will be similar to last years treeshaker, but in spring time, and with out the 12 hour cat. Starts and stages at a different end of anne springs too.

the burn 24 hour challenge? eh Fennell? dont be a jerk… i got one dude who is in already

I want to do the Lowes Motor Speedway time trial series too, I even have a special man rocket of a bike project underway for this one. I am going to do the series in the fixed gear category, and maybe one or two on my road bike to see whats up.

This years’ GA state SS championship has been moved back to September this year. That might be a good thing because I don’t think I have recovered from last years hung over 5 hour romp in forrest fire ridden woods. This is the kind of race where the real winners are the ones who cant twist tie on their number plates right side up because the numbers on them make them wondor if they closed out their bar tab in Athens the night before.

My move to Asheville this spring might yield some new possibilities? mellowdrome? cross racing? Who knows. I like feeling self loathing after a good asskicking.
