when it rains it pours

i was installing a new fork on my bike today, and i whacked a nice dent in my top tube. it might wind up being structural, cracks and all. i dont really care though, i love my bike despite the damage and i will stick with it untill the bitter end. it is like an awsome metafor for the state of my relationship with Melissa. she broke up with me on saturday, but i honestly just feel like this is a phase and that she needs some space… damage done i am willing for her to go through what it takes to make this pass. my only fear is that it wont pass before one of does somthing that the other will resent… and that is the shit that you cant easily recover from.

Carolina Velodrome update…

Lee still hasnt Flickr’d his pictures from last weekends romp in Athens and at the GA state SS championships because he is in the middle of moving to a new place and his ‘puter machine isnt online yet but i do have Velodrome news.

back track my blog a bit and you will see my previous coorespondance with Spencer Leuders about the seemingly mythical Velodrome project down in Rock tHrill SC (otherwise known as Charlotte SC). i saw Spencer’s mug on the cover of the current Endurance Magazine so i decided to e-mail him for an update, this is his reply:

”Good timing: we have a closed door meeting with City Council on March 26th. We expect them to approve the plans, although what I’m hearing is that they will not break ground until 2009 due to a backlog of other city projects. But hey, I’ve been waiting 5 years for this, so I can wait another two. By then my kids will be able to ride anyway. Check back with me in April if you don’t see anything in the press. Best, Spencer”

This facility is supposed to host a crit course, 250m velodrome, bmx track, mtb/CX trails, rock climbing etc… if and when it goes down it sounds like this will be a hub for UCI activity in the south east.

The time is near and the mission is clear…

We’re off to GA this weekend for the Georgia State Single Speed Championship if it will be anything like last year prizes and swag was very abundant. i placed 12th in sport and still came home with some goodies. i am still trying to figure out wich race to enter. the wannabe tuff guy in me wants to sign up for marathon and put damn near 50 miles into the woods and see how my body reacts, but then there is also the 10:25 start time (i will be hung over) and the drive back to Charlotte, then the working as a bike messenger ALL DAY on monday wich is my ONLY full day as a messenger. convenience is king right? i could race at 1pm for 24 miles and take care of all that but 24 miles doesnt seem like its worth it. the third option would be “open” catagory wich has the earliest start time of 10am and it is 36 miles.

i guess it really doesnt matter, being from NC makes me inelligible for the championship… all i can do is place and get prizes but not title (doubt i’d come close enough to winning a race to worry about that anyways)

although i do have mounted to my seatpost a faux snake skin saddle that used to belong to two time single speed world champion Travis Brown maybe some of his magic sideburn power will aid me in a victory this weekend either on saturday’s short track race or sunday’s what ever the hell i do race.

when will some one realize that NC needs a state single speed championship? who has what it takes to promote such a race?
