this rain BLOWS! and i am getting stressed out.

I have had my truck off the road for a while, my inspection is 1 year over due to the month and my tag is 7 months expired. my father is kind enough to sponsor the “get drew’s truck back to legal status project” as my christmas gift, wich is nice, the fine for letting it lapse so long is 284.75 to begin with.

tough tits for Drew though that the truck aint gonna pass the inspection, wich is the reason for this to begin with. Last year whe i took the truck to the inspection place i got quoted over 700$ in things wrong with her. i hope the place i’m planning on taking it will be merciful.

wholEy Crap!

what a day. cory and i did the equival of a months business today, we’ve needed a day like this at the shop for a while. things just diddnt really make sense a lot though.

early on i had my hand on a build up of a baby blue Pegoretti Marcello, full carbon record ti 10 sp. with a mix of reynolds and easton carbon parts to fit. the wheels though killed the deal. Pegoretti is one of my favorite steel italian bike MFGs there is, it’s hard not to love these bikes based on the craftsmanship of Dario Pegoretti, but his eccentric crazy graphics too… this guy put a set of 80mm deep vee carbon tubular wheels on this bike. wheels more at home on a aero carbon Cervelo tt bike or somthing similar, not a round tubed steel frame!

later on in the day i was hanging a hodge-podge of 9 and 8 speed XT parts on a department store full suspension frame. this customer is one of the biggest cheapskates i’ve ever delt with. with a little help from a guy who knows compatibility (me) he’d actually spend a lot less on parts because every time he brings new stuff for me to put on his bike it doesnt work and has to buy what we have anyways. either or his blood will likely boil when i have to tell him that his 1997 high clamp bottom pull deraileur will not work on his bike and that his “HG only” 8 sp compatible XT crank also circa 1997 will not shift well with a 9 speed chain that he’ll need for his current rear deraileur & cassette. is it worth mentioning this guy who is cheap as hell and rides a department store bike is a doctor? and could afford & should be on atleast a mediocre quality bike shop supplied bike?

i’m tired and i still have a lot of Xmas shopping to do.

i should have bought just one more toy for one extra point. i’d have been on my own then, but i diddnt so i’ll have to settle for a tie for first place. tied in for 3rd over all for both nights.

thanks Arleigh, we had a great time!

Lastnights portion of the NUTCRACKER race

It was over really quick. all racers finished the time trial in under 13 minutes.

Now, i’m not trying to complain here because it was fun to get together and ride with every one but the times could not have been correct. My time was second to last place, and a person that i KNOW i beat and who also agrees that i was faster finnished two places ahead of me (he left two spots before me wich is 40 seconds +/- a second or two and i finnished no more than 12 seconds after he did because i chased him up the last hill). another person who questionably would have been atleast an equal time of mine +/- due to our take offs and arrivals finished with a top 5 spot and over all of that Clinton used his own stop watch and after adjusted for 20 second delays on the final score his was off by 59 seconds. OH WELL! because TONIGHT is CHECKPOINTS and time isnt of concearn how much ground is covered is and i’m a bike messenger dammit!

check out arsbars.com later on today i’m sure “official” results will be up at some point.

in other news that sucks, Charlotte’s Endurance Magazine wrote an article about the Lowe’s Motor Speedway Time Trial series. They made it sound like the group of people we had racing were a bunch of “tattoo’d skate punks wearing hockey helmets” and although that isnt the furthest from the truth description for a few of the guys, they made it sound like we were a bunch of incompetent jerks who couldnt count laps. WE ONLY HAD ONE who couldnt count his laps correctly & he is a dumb ass and we wont try to make an excuse for him. for crying out loud cory beat Humpy Whelers time while riding all 7 laps on a beach cruiser wearing blue jeans and carrying a messenger bag!~ i’m sure i’m the “tattoo’d” part of this whole “skatepunk” thing but i was wearing full spandex like the rest of the yuppies that were there with 5000$ bikes on the roof racks of their audi’s and I WASNT WEARING A HOCKEY HELMET! its actually a spanish made cycling helmet that isnt even available in the US anymore.     i guess we dont belong there because we dont fit the cookie cutter TT dork who only uses cycling as a way to focus their OCD

that is all for now, i’ll post tomorrow about tonights portion of the race.

Jake’s Race.

this morning i’m sitting here typing this with throbbing sore legs. it’s been a while since i’ve felt this worked!

between working uptown yesterday (slowly getting more and more hours as a courier wich helps during the shop’s slow time) and Jake’s race last night my legs got it good.

Jakes race was great. i finally got a top 5 in an alleycat. no bullshiters / followers / or cheaters. he kept the “Keep It Simple Stupid” philosophy in effect and it made for a good time even in the rain. the race consisted of chugging 4 beers through out the course. and the route was this

*Chug & leave Lucky Cycles and go to the parking lot of Fu’s tattoo shop

*pickup a beer at Fu’s and take it to the parking lot of the Bicycle Gallery

*Chug @ Gallery and head to the Common Market

*buy a beer at Common Market and chug it on the patio

*head to Heck Yeah Coffee Hub’s new location

*get three options at Heck Yeah a)Marshall park bridge b)freedom park stage c)bike gallery parkinglot

luckily i picked the correct option and went to Freedom Park. there you had to chug again then it was back to Lucky for the finish

out of 10 racers 7 finished.

1.Brian

2.Mikie

3.sLusher

4.Lee

5.Me

6.Kyle

7.Spencer

Tommy DNF due to a split rear wheel.

Finnegan DNF due to a front flat tire.

Blake DNF because he was tripping on acid. (seriously)

I had Lee at two different times of the race and cory at three different points but both of their abilities to chug are greater than mine, even though cory put a finger in his throat to make room for the next chug like a sissy.

thanks Jake & thanks PBR!
